Eze emphasized that the elections will cover the 13 local government areas and 171 political wards in Ebonyi State. He urged political parties to actively engage in the electoral process by obtaining their nomination forms from the commission’s headquarters.
According to Eze, the election schedule aligns with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution, the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission Law of 2001, and other relevant legislation. He specified that nomination papers should be submitted to the commission’s headquarters located at No.1 Onwe Road, Abakaliki.
The announcement of the election date has generated mixed reactions among local government chairmen and ward councillors. While some have expressed concern, others have welcomed the opportunity to vote for competent grassroots leaders who can address community issues.
Notably, the tenure of the EBSIEC Chairman is set to expire on July 31, 2024. As preparations for the elections progress, the commission aims to ensure a transparent and inclusive electoral process across the state.
