In an exclusive interview with Channels Television, Shaibu emphasized that he is not a desperate politician, clarifying that his decision to conduct a parallel primary stemmed from concerns about the flawed process of the official PDP primary election in Edo.

Shaibu asserted his legitimacy as the PDP flagbearer in Edo State, warning that failure to recognize him could jeopardize the party’s chances in the forthcoming governorship election.

Addressing the controversy surrounding the primary process, Shaibu criticized the conduct of the previous primary as “cosmetic,” highlighting irregularities such as allowing personal aides to vote for aspirants.

Expressing his commitment to the PDP’s success in Edo, Shaibu extended an invitation to his counterpart, Asue Ighodalo, to join forces and work together toward their common goals.
