EFCC Boss Ola Olukoyede Recounts His Investigation: Cleared of Wrongdoing, Stresses Integrity
Ola Olukoyede, the current Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), shared a personal account of his experience when he was investigated by the very institution he now leads. During the investigation, the EFCC found that Olukoyede was a signatory to numerous bank accounts, raising initial concerns.
In a video shared by Channels TV, Olukoyede explained that these accounts were linked to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where he served in various capacities. The discovery of these accounts led to suspicion, but further investigation revealed that they were entirely legitimate, connected to church activities, and managed with full transparency.
Olukoyede highlighted the strong culture of integrity within the RCCG, emphasizing that Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the leader of the church, has a tradition of imposing a “curse” on anyone who misuses church funds. This, according to Olukoyede, serves as a powerful deterrent against corruption and ensures that church funds are handled with the utmost care and honesty.
Reflecting on his own experience, Olukoyede underscored the importance of maintaining clean hands and a pure heart, both in personal life and in professional duties. He stressed that integrity is essential for building trust and accountability, especially for those in positions of authority.
“Let our hands be clean and let our hearts be pure. That is the only thing that can help you,” Olukoyede stated, using his experience to convey a broader message about the importance of honesty and ethical conduct.
This revelation by the EFCC boss serves as a reminder of the significance of integrity in public service and the need for transparency and accountability in all financial dealings.
