EFCC Detains Ondo APC Gubernatorial Aspirant, Wale Akinterinwa

Akinterinwa, who served as Commissioner for Finance for over seven years until the dissolution of the State Executive Council by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is reportedly under investigation for alleged mismanagement of billions of Naira.

Despite his detention, Akinterinwa participated in the APC’s direct primary over the weekend. The EFCC clarified that the timing of his detention was solely at their discretion.

While Akinterinwa had been invited by the anti-graft agency several weeks ago over the allegations, he couldn’t attend due to prior engagements. However, he voluntarily reported to the EFCC’s office on Thursday.

The EFCC chose not to disclose information about his detention to avoid influencing his prospects in the APC primary.

A confidential source revealed that Akinterinwa remains in custody but was not arrested; rather, he voluntarily responded to a long-overdue invitation. The source emphasized that his detention is not politically motivated.
