Eight Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Police Officers In Delta

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, it was revealed that the officers were ambushed during a fact-finding mission on February 23, resulting in the tragic deaths of six police officers.

The arrests were made following intensive investigative efforts by police operatives. Initially, five suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident, and three more were arrested at different locations later on.

Adejobi stated that the additional arrests were facilitated by the statements and cooperation of the initial five suspects. Currently, all eight suspects are in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The Nigeria Police Force expressed its commitment to ensuring that all those responsible for the murder and similar crimes are swiftly brought to justice. Adejobi emphasized that the suspects would face prosecution once the investigations are concluded, with credible evidence presented in court.

The police spokesman conveyed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of the officers, emphasizing that the perpetrators of such violence against law enforcement officers would not escape justice.

The officers were killed during duty in Ughelli on February 23 and 26, with six others reported missing.
