Led by the national president of FESSU, Benjamin Adekunle, the students wielded placards and raised their voices to demand a thorough investigation into the incident and the prosecution of the perpetrator.

The victim, identified as Iyanda Damilola, was serving as a corps member in Ibadan when he attended his brother’s convocation party in Ogbomoso. Tragically, a dispute ensued, leading to police intervention during which Damilola was fatally shot. His brother, Oluwafemi Iyanda, a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), also sustained gunshot wounds.

Recounting the ordeal, Oluwafemi described the chaos and indiscriminate shooting by the police, resulting in his brother’s untimely demise.

In their plea to the Speaker of the Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, Adekunle emphasized the urgency of the situation, demanding justice for Damilola and comprehensive medical care for his injured brother. The students also called for an end to police brutality across Nigeria.
