During the inauguration of 24 newly appointed commissioners at the Government House in Owerri, Uzodimma clarified that his self-appointment was aimed at preventing a recurrence of past incidents, particularly concerning controversial land deals involving previous commissioners.

By taking on the role personally, Governor Uzodimma intends to ensure transparency and accountability in land management, evidently motivated by a desire to uphold the integrity of the administration and avoid potential pitfalls associated with delegated responsibilities in this crucial area.

However, amidst these developments, accusations have emerged regarding the governor’s absence from the state for over thirty days, during which he purportedly did not hand over to his deputy nor ensure a functioning state executive council. Emeka Nwulu, the deputy governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the November 11 Imo state governorship polls, voiced concerns over Uzodimma’s prolonged absence and criticized what he perceives as a lack of fulfillment of campaign promises.

Nwulu’s assertions point to broader discontent with Uzodimma’s governance approach, portraying the governor as detached and failing to meet the expectations of Imo State residents.
