Enugu’s Labour Triumph: Workers Receive N80,000 Minimum Wage As Promised

The payment began in November 2024, and while there were some discrepancies regarding consequential adjustments, these issues have already been raised with Governor Peter Mbah. The leaders expressed confidence that the governor, known for his commitment to workers’ welfare, would address these concerns.

In a joint statement, leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC) emphasized that no strike is planned, citing the governor’s past track record of fulfilling promises, such as upgrading the local government employees’ wages and settling backlogged allowances.
