Everton Forward Martin Sherif Hit With 61-Count FA Betting Charge

The 20-year-old is accused of placing 61 bets on football matches between November 20, 2024, and February 12, 2026, covering a period of about 15 months.

According to Ireporter Online, the FA confirmed the charge in a statement, noting that Sherif allegedly violated Rule E1.2, which relates to betting on football.

The player has been given until Monday, August 17, to respond to the allegations. The charge does not amount to a finding of guilt, and Sherif will have the opportunity to present his response before the FA determines whether further action is required.

Sherif, who was born in Liberia, joined Everton’s youth system in 2019 before progressing to first-team training in early 2025.

The forward spent the first half of last season on loan at League One side Rotherham United, where he scored twice in 10 appearances. His spell was cut short in December following a series of injuries.

He subsequently joined Port Vale on loan in February and made 17 League One appearances, scoring twice. However, he was unable to prevent the club from suffering relegation.

The FA’s latest action centres specifically on the alleged betting activity, with no conclusion yet reached regarding the claims. Sherif remains entitled to respond to the charges as the disciplinary process continues.
