With over 20 years of experience in African telecoms, Farroukh is well-equipped to address the company’s current challenges. His career includes roles such as CEO of MTN South Africa, managing director at MTN Ghana, and group CEO of Smile Communications Nigeria. He holds an MBA and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Globacom highlighted that Farroukh’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as the company deals with subscriber base challenges. A recent audit by the NCC revealed discrepancies in subscriber counts, causing a significant decline in its user base, which fell by 69.2% from March to September.

Farroukh will be tasked with revitalizing Globacom’s growth and guiding the company through necessary structural changes to regain market position and consumer confidence.
