AS3xism, Economic Struggles, And Trump’s Appeal: The Real Reasons Harris Lost, Says Moghalu

Professor Kingsley Moghalu, President of the Rwanda-based African School of Governance, has offered his analysis on why Vice President Kamala Harris lost to former President Donald Trump in the recent election. In a statement on Wednesday, Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank, argued that America was not yet ready for a female president. He noted that while Harris campaigned on economic prosperity, inflation remained high throughout much of the race, exacerbating voter concerns.

“Sexism played a role — Americans were simply not ready for a female president. Additionally, the economic perceptions, especially inflation, which remained a key issue during the campaign, contributed to Harris’s struggle,” Moghalu said. “Harris also couldn’t sway the white working class, who were skeptical for reasons that involved both racism and sexism. Barack Obama overcame racial prejudice, but his mother was white, and the timing of his campaign was different.”

Moghalu further highlighted Trump’s sweeping victory across all major battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, as a testament to his widespread appeal. Despite his controversial legal battles and polarizing personality, Americans, Moghalu believes, gravitated toward Trump’s platform, rejecting the “woke” liberal agenda in favor of a return to what they viewed as traditional values.

“Harris ran a strong campaign, worked tirelessly, and organized effectively, but she could not overcome the combination of factors—both positive and negative—that fueled support for Trump,” Moghalu concluded.
