The demolition exercise was led by Akhere Paul, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, alongside Michael Anetor, Commander of the Special Task Force.

Paul stated that the operation was in line with the newly passed Edo State Anti-Kidnapping Law, signed by Governor Okpebholo.

He emphasized that the government will not tolerate any property used as a base for criminal activities, warning landlords to properly vet tenants before renting out their houses.

“These buildings have been used for illegal activities, including the holding of kidnapped victims. During police raids, dangerous weapons were also recovered from these locations,” Paul explained.

He further urged landlords to work with security agencies for proper profiling of prospective tenants.

“This measure is to deter others. Before renting out your property, ensure a thorough background check is done at a police station. Verify their identity, occupation, and background to prevent unfortunate incidents,” he added.

Paul assured Edo residents that the demolition exercise would continue as part of the government’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements and ensuring the state remains safe for all.
