Maxim Lyutyi, 44, and his partner Oxana Mironova, 34, neglected to adequately feed their baby, Cosmos, resulting in his death from ‘pneumonia and emaciation’ before he reached one month old.

Lyutyi, of Russian descent, will serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.
Reports revealed that he would separate the baby from his mother, subjecting him to cold water baths in attempts to toughen him. Despite signs of distress, including exhaustion and breathing difficulties, the child was not taken to see a doctor.

In court, Lyutyi admitted to causing ‘intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm’ to Cosmos by enforcing a sunlight-based diet. Initially, he attempted to shift blame onto Mironova, who received a non-custodial sentence of two years of ‘correctional labor.’
Lyutyi confessed to negligence, expressing remorse for not seeking medical help sooner. He urged prospective parents to prioritize health and childcare over personal beliefs.
During his year in custody, Lyutyi was found consuming meat, contradicting his previous dietary principles.
His ambition to raise his son on a prana-eating regimen, which involves abstaining from food and water and ‘feeding on the sun,’ led to him preventing Mironova from breastfeeding the child. Described as a ‘radical raw food fanatic,’ he aimed to use his son as an experiment to promote his lifestyle choices.
In addition to his prison sentence, Lyutyi was fined £860.
