The approved increase applies to the following consolidated salary structures: Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

Notably, this augmentation follows previous increases granted to sectors such as tertiary education and health. Sectors including universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and the health sector had earlier received boosts under specific consolidated salary structures tailored to their needs.

According to Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of Press at the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), these salary increases will come into effect from January 1, 2024. Moreover, the Federal Government has also sanctioned pension increments ranging from 20% to 28% for pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme, aligned with the aforementioned consolidated salary structures, starting from the same date.
