Federal Government Unveils Strategy To Revitalize Nigeria’s Textile Industry

Uzoka-Anite outlined ongoing efforts to attract investors and implement strategies aimed at revitalizing the sector. Emphasizing the potential of the fashion industry to drive demand for locally produced textiles and garments, the minister projected the creation of 200,000 jobs within the next two years.

Key components of the government’s plan include upgrading existing facilities, embracing new technologies, and elevating production standards to enhance competitiveness on a global scale.

In addition, Sheriff Balogun, President of the Federation of Agricultural Commodity of Nigeria (FACAN), underscored the importance of collaborative efforts and swift action to address industry challenges. He highlighted the need to seize opportunities amidst foreign exchange crises, low purchasing power, and unemployment by adding value to raw materials.

Balogun also recognized the potential for Nigeria to become a global exporter of clothing, emphasizing the importance of support from entities like Dangote to access cost-effective diesel fuel.
