Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hadejia, revealed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday ahead of a national stakeholders’ workshop scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

Hadejia reiterated the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to fostering an all-inclusive Nigeria under the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”

As part of the strategy, the government aims to introduce a roadmap to integrate unbanked Nigerians into the formal financial system.

“Economic and financial inclusion are vital aspects of President Tinubu’s agenda to integrate underserved and unbanked Nigerians into the formal financial system, enabling them to access various financial services at reasonable costs,” Hadejia explained.

The two-day workshop seeks to raise awareness among stakeholders and devise strategies to accelerate financial inclusion initiatives nationwide.

Key services to be provided include opening transaction accounts, facilitating savings, enabling payments and transfers, granting credit, offering pension and insurance services (including health insurance), all conveniently accessible close to places of work or residence.

Hadejia emphasized Vice President Alhaji Kashim Shettima’s dedication to supporting the successful implementation of the national financial inclusion strategy, particularly in his role as Chairman of the National Council on Nutrition.

Dr. Nurudeen Zauro, the Technical Advisor to the President on Financial Inclusion, disclosed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, would deliver the lead paper at the workshop.

Representatives from international organizations such as the World Bank, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion will also participate in the event.
