Federal High Court Judges Set To Begin Two-Week Easter Vacation From April 16

The Federal High Court of Nigeria will commence its Easter vacation on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The break, which spans two weeks, will end on Monday, April 28, with regular court activities scheduled to resume on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

This development was announced in a circular signed by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho. A statement released by the Court’s Director of Information, Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, explained that the vacation aligns with Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).

“During the Easter vacation, the designated judicial divisions in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt will be accessible to the public solely for cases of extreme urgency,” the statement emphasized.

The court clarified that only specific matters will be heard during this period, including cases involving the enforcement of fundamental human rights, applications for the arrest or release of vessels, and issues of critical national importance.

The assigned vacation judges are:

• Abuja Division: Justices Emeka Nwite and Musa Sulaiman Liman

• Lagos Division: Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac I. Dipeolu

• Port Harcourt Division: Justices Phoebe M. Ayua and Adamu T. Mohammed

These judges will be responsible for adjudicating urgent cases during the recess, ensuring continued access to justice in pressing situations.
