FG Assures Corps Members of Backlog Payment for Increased NYSC Allowance
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to paying the backlog of the recently increased ₦77,000 monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande assured that both current corps members and those who were serving when the increment was announced would receive backdated payments. However, he did not specify when the payments would be made.
“You saw the new DG saying that you will get it, and they’re asking him, ‘What about those leaving now, will they receive the backlog?’ He said we have their details,” Olawande stated. “The backlog will be paid. It may not be immediate, but it will happen.”
This assurance brings relief to corps members who have been waiting for months to receive their increased allowances.
