Despite the Federal Government’s approval of the allowance increase in July 2024 and assurances that payments would begin in February 2025, corps members continue to receive the old stipend of ₦33,000, raising concerns amid the country’s rising cost of living.

NYSC Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Carol Embu, stated that the scheme is still pursuing cash backing for the increase and emphasized that due diligence is required. While no specific timeline for payment was provided, Embu assured corps members that the NYSC is actively working on the issue, urging patience as updates would be shared once available.
