Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, announced the launch of the scheme in a statement on Wednesday, highlighting its potential to stimulate economic activity and support social mobility nationwide.

Ngelale emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring that every hardworking Nigerian has the opportunity to enhance their quality of life through structured financial mechanisms like the Consumer Credit Scheme.

Administered by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), the scheme seeks to establish a reliable credit score for every economically active Nigerian, thereby enhancing their access to consumer credit.

With a focus on facilitating major purchases such as housing, vehicles, education, and healthcare, the scheme is expected to significantly impact the national economy by boosting demand for goods and services, fostering job creation, and driving growth in local industries.

Initially targeting civil servants, the scheme is set to expand to the general public in due course.
