Former INEC Chairman Jega Gets Fresh Appointment

Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State, has designated Prof Attahiru Jega, the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, as the Pro-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

This announcement was conveyed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Aliyu Ubandoma, on Thursday in Lafia, the state capital.

Highlighting Jega’s distinguished career, which includes serving as Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and as the former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Ubandoma noted that the appointment was made within the governor’s authority as the institution’s visitor.

The decision reflects the governor’s commitment to advancing academic excellence at the university.

Furthermore, the statement disclosed the governor’s approval of the appointments of Mr Shuaibu Kore, Mr Thomas Ogiri, and Mrs Mary Enwongulu as members of the governing council. The formal inauguration of the governing council is slated for a later date, to be announced.
