Francis Uzoho Leaves Omonia After Seven Emotional Years

Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has officially brought his seven-year association with Cypriot First Division side AC Omonia to an emotional end.

The 27-year-old Nigerian international expressed his appreciation to the club’s supporters, acknowledging the love and encouragement they gave him throughout his time in Cyprus.

According to Ireporter Online, Uzoho joined Omonia on loan from Spanish side Deportivo La Coruña in July 2019 before completing a permanent transfer to the club in 2021. During his spell, he made 77 appearances across all competitions, conceding 84 goals and recording 29 clean sheets.

Reflecting on his time at the club in a message shared on Instagram, Uzoho described his journey with Omonia as one filled with unforgettable memories and said it was a privilege to represent the club.

The goalkeeper also reserved special praise for the supporters, saying their affection from his first day at the club until his departure would remain cherished.

Uzoho admitted that leaving Omonia was not an easy decision, but noted that the circumstances surrounding his exit were beyond his control. He nevertheless reaffirmed his love for the club and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have represented the team.

The Nigerian goalkeeper first arrived at Omonia at the age of 20 and went on to spend much of his senior career with the Cypriot club. His departure now brings an end to a significant chapter in his professional football journey.
