The trio was found guilty of defrauding individuals of a total of ₦1,640,000 under the guise of securing jobs for them. Justice T.G. Ringing, on November 26, 2024, convicted the officers after they pleaded guilty to charges of obtaining money under false pretenses.
The scam involved the officers misleading victims into paying large sums for fake job opportunities within the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Immigration Service. Bature and Philip collected ₦970,000, while Mohammed swindled ₦670,000 from unsuspecting individuals. Despite the promises, no employment opportunities were provided, and the money was never returned.
