Nigerian Police Transfer Speed Darlington To Abuja; DIG Galadanchi Takes Charge
The Nigeria Police Force has transferred Nigerian singer Speed Darlington from Owerri, Imo State, to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. The singer was re-arrested upon his return to Nigeria for a show, as previously reported by ireporteronline.
A source revealed to SaharaReporters that Darlington was moved to the Police Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja under the direct oversight of Deputy Inspector-General Dasuki Galadanchi, who personally assumed responsibility for the case file.
According to the source, DIG Galadanchi criticized the leniency of the singer’s earlier bail terms, leading to the recent developments.
Reason for Speed Darlington’s Re-arrest
Stan Alieke, Darlington’s lawyer, clarified that the singer was accused of jumping bail, following a prior arrest related to a petition filed by fellow artist Burna Boy. Alieke stated that his client missed a mandatory court appearance due to a medical emergency that necessitated travel abroad for treatment.
The lawyer emphasized that Darlington had no intent to evade justice and had planned to return to Abuja after his performance in Owerri.
