Gombe Ready To Accommodate 1,850 Corps Members For 2024 Orientation

The National Youth Service Corps announced on Monday the commencement of the 2024 Batch “B” Stream II orientation course, which is set to begin on Wednesday for 1,850 participants in Gombe State.

According to a statement signed by Jennifer Laha, Head of the Public Relations Unit, on behalf of State Coordinator Chinwe Nwachuku, no fewer than 1,850 prospective corps members are expected to undertake the exercise.

Our correspondent reports that the mandatory three-week course will be held at the temporary orientation camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The statement partly read, “In Gombe State, the programme is scheduled to take place at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Government Science Technical College, Amada, Akko Local Government Area, with a total of 1,850 prospective corps members deployed to the state.”

The formal opening and swearing-in ceremony will take place on Friday, 30th August 2024, at 10:00 am. The Executive Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON, is expected to preside over the event, while the Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Halima Mohammed, will administer the Oath of Allegiance to the corps members deployed to the state for national service.

In welcoming the prospective corps members, the statement urged residents and the host community to provide the necessary assistance, noting, “Prospective corps members are to be aware that registration will commence on Wednesday, 28th August, and continue through to Friday, 30th August 2024, with the cut-off at midnight on Friday, 30th August 2024.”

“As usual, we encourage the peace-loving people of Gombe State, especially those in and around Akko LGA and its environs, to extend the customary hospitality and peaceful coexistence for which Gombe State is renowned,” the statement added.
