Google Says Nigerians Can Now Pay With Naira On Play Store
On Wednesday, Google made an announcement stating that Nigerians now have the option to make payments on its Play Store using their local currency, the naira.
This development came about through a partnership between Google and Verve, which happens to be the largest domestic card scheme in Africa.
The collaboration aims to facilitate digital transactions on the Google Play Store, making it more convenient and accessible for Nigerian users.

Starting from today, Nigerians can utilize their Verve cards to make purchases on the Google Play Store, thereby enhancing the digital ecosystem in the country.
This update comes as a relief for Nigerians who were previously facing challenges with their banks meeting foreign exchange demands for international payments while buying apps from the Google Store.
Under this new arrangement, Google will process Verve card transactions within Nigeria, allowing these transactions to be conducted in the local currency, the naira. Consequently, the country’s banking institutions will treat these transactions as local ones.
As a result of this collaboration, any Nigerian with an Android device and a Verve card now has a simplified method for purchasing apps and other items on the Google Play Store.
