According to a statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Mrs. Eno will be laid to rest in Tkot Ekpene Udo, within the Nsit Ubium local government area.

The declaration of the work-free day is intended to allow the people of the state the opportunity to pay their final respects to the former first lady. The statement, issued on Wednesday, reads: “In accordance with the final arrangements for the funeral of our departed First Lady, Her Excellency, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno, and in consultation with the bereaved family, the Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Friday, 29th November 2024 as a work-free day to honor our dear mother.”

This day will give Akwa Ibom residents and others the chance to attend her funeral in Tkot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

“We pray that the gentle soul of our departed First Lady rests in peace in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” the statement concluded.

Mrs. Patience Umo Eno passed away on 26th September 2024 after a brief illness. In an earlier announcement, the family had shared their sorrow, stating: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, the wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, following an illness. She passed away peacefully in the hospital, surrounded by her family.”

The family has requested privacy as they mourn their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, while also seeking the prayers and support of well-wishers during this difficult time. Governor Umo Eno expressed his gratitude to those who have offered support and assured the public that, despite this profound personal loss, his commitment to serving the state remains steadfast.
