The directive came during a meeting with the newly inaugurated RSUTH Management Board on March 4, 2024, signaling Fubara’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of healthcare workers and fortifying the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

Professor Chizindu Alikor, the Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, hailed the governor’s decision as a significant boost to staff morale and a testament to his dedication to enhancing healthcare services in Rivers State.

The move aims to motivate RSUTH staff to continue delivering quality healthcare to citizens, rejuvenating spirits after years of stagnation in staff promotions.

Reports from Ireporteronline reveal that RSUTH workers have been awaiting promotions for over a decade, a situation that persisted through the previous administration led by former Governor Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

During Wike’s eight-year tenure, the vital task of promoting health workers and bolstering the healthcare workforce across Rivers State was overlooked, casting a shadow over the healthcare sector’s efficiency and effectiveness.
