Gunmen Abduct Cross River Traditional Ruler, Kill Aide

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a traditional ruler, Etiyin Maurice Edet, in Cross River State and killed one of his aides, as confirmed by authorities in the South-South state on Monday.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Irene Ugbo, informed Channels Television that the traditional ruler from Akpabuyo Local Government Area was abducted on Sunday night at his residence.

Ugbo mentioned that during the abduction, one of the traditional ruler’s aides was shot dead.

Efforts are underway to rescue the abducted ruler, but it is not confirmed whether the abductors have made any ransom demands or contacted the victim’s family.

This incident adds to the recent spate of attacks on traditional rulers across the country.
