Gunmen Assassinate Lagos APC Council Chairmanship Aspirant

Unknown assailants have killed Oluwatosin Onamade, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirant in Lagos State. Onamade, who was campaigning for the chairmanship of Ijede Local Council Development Area, was murdered on Saturday night in Ijede, Ikorodu.

His brother, Oluwafemi, confirmed that Onamade was shot and then attacked with a machete by the gunmen, who had been following him for some time. The assailants were described as wearing black outfits and covering their faces. After shooting at Onamade, they used a machete when the bullets did not immediately cause fatal injuries.

Femi added that this was not the first attack on his brother; a similar incident occurred in 2021. He believes the attack was politically motivated, as his brother was a strong contender for the position. The Lagos State Police have launched an investigation into the murder.
