Chairman of Mangu local government area, Monday Kassam, confirmed the harrowing events, revealing that the gunmen unleashed violence across multiple communities. The attackers reportedly stormed the areas, including the off-campus hostel of Plateau State University students, firing indiscriminately to announce their presence.

Kassam described the chilling sequence of events, stating, “The following morning, the students came out in their large numbers; they were demonstrating when one of them was shot again based on the information I heard from the eyewitness account.” Despite the presence of security forces, the assailants returned the next morning, leading to further casualties.

The statement by the chairman painted a grim picture of the situation, indicating ongoing violence and instability despite efforts to contain it. The incident highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures and decisive action to protect communities in Plateau state from such senseless attacks.
