The Public Relations Officer of the company, Fidelis Olise, confirmed the incident, stating that the killings were carried out by unidentified persons. He emphasized that the company maintains a good relationship with the surrounding communities and could not ascertain if locals were involved in the attack.

The matter has been reported to the police, and investigations are underway. Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, expressed shock at the incident and disclosed that additional personnel have been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks. He revealed that preliminary findings suggest the gunmen came from a neighboring state, and efforts are being made to apprehend them.

The police, in collaboration with Okomu Oil management, are working to enhance security measures to safeguard the lives of staff members within the environment. CP Adegboye assured that such occurrences would not be tolerated in the state, emphasizing the commitment to apprehending the perpetrators and ensuring justice is served.
