In a statement shared on his official X account, Obi underscored the urgent need for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to implement policies aimed at fostering economic opportunities and social justice, thereby addressing the underlying causes of societal unrest.
He emphasized the importance of concerted efforts from all sectors of society, including civil society organizations and religious leaders, in tackling the root issues exacerbating the nation’s challenges.
Obi stated, “The recent looting and arson that occurred at Wuse main Market in Abuja during the week are a clear manifestation of the frustration and desperation felt by many Nigerians who have been left behind by a system that prioritizes the interests of the few over the needs of the many.
“While acts of violence and destruction are never justified, they are often symptomatic of deeper social and economic grievances that must be addressed through meaningful dialogue and purposeful action.”
He called for immediate governmental intervention through the implementation of policies geared towards fostering economic opportunities, enhancing security measures, and promoting transparency in governance.
Furthermore, Obi urged stakeholders to set aside partisan interests and collaborate in finding lasting solutions to the nation’s challenges. He stressed the importance of solidarity and collective action in building a more just and equitable society for all Nigerians.
In conclusion, Obi asserted, “The future of Nigeria depends on our ability to rise above adversity and build a society where every citizen can live with dignity, security, and hope for a better tomorrow.”
