“He Wasn’t Sick” – Brother Opens Up On How Chief Kanran D!ed
According to Ireporter Online, Yemi Remi, the younger brother of late Nollywood veteran Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, has revealed details surrounding the actor’s sudden death. He explained that the thespian showed no signs of illness before his passing.
Narrating the events, Yemi noted that Chief Kanran had attended a church programme on Friday, August 15, where eyewitnesses said he danced with great joy. A day earlier, the actor had spoken with his brother about meeting up the following day. Unfortunately, that meeting never happened.
Chief Kanran reportedly slumped in his bathroom on Friday and, before medical help could be secured, he was confirmed dead. “He wasn’t sick. The Friday before he died, he went for a church programme and people said he danced so well. He even called me on Thursday and said we’d meet the next day. It was that Friday that they called me to say he had died. They told me he slumped in the bathroom and before they could get to the hospital, he had died,” Yemi recounted in a YouTube interview.
The news of his death was first announced by producer Seun Oloketuyi. The actor was later laid to rest on Friday, September 12, at his residence in Beckley Estate, Abule Egba, Lagos.
