Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor has expressed concern over the situation of her longtime colleague, Olu Jacobs, while reflecting on the emotional impact of losing prominent figures in the Nigerian film industry.

According to Ireporter Online, Ozokwor made the remarks during an interview with Femi Babs TV on YouTube, where she spoke about her emotional attachment to colleagues and how their deaths have affected her over the years.

Olu Jacobs’ wife and fellow actress, Joke Silva, disclosed in 2021 that the veteran actor had been living with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), a progressive neurological condition.

Speaking about Jacobs, Ozokwor admitted that she feels deeply saddened by his situation and prefers not to dwell on the thought.

The actress also revealed that she sometimes imagines what it would be like to lose veteran actor Pete Edochie, another longtime colleague, before her.

Ozokwor recalled the deaths of actors Sam Loco and Mr Ibu, saying both losses were particularly painful because of the close relationships she shared with them.

She said Sam Loco’s death affected her deeply because of his comedic talent and the numerous occasions they worked together on comedy projects.

According to the actress, she struggled to accept his death and described the experience as one that took an emotional toll on her.

She also recalled feeling similarly devastated following Mr Ibu’s death, although she said she tried to control her emotions because she is now older and has learnt to manage such painful experiences differently.

Ozokwor explained that she values companionship and develops strong emotional connections with the people around her, making the loss of colleagues particularly difficult for her.

The veteran actress said her reaction to Sam Loco’s death was more intense because she was younger at the time, adding that she has since learnt to exercise greater emotional restraint as she grows older.
