Ibrahim Gusau Secures Key Position As WAFU B’s 1st Vice President

In a competitive vote, Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, was elected as President of WAFU B, while Oumarou Sawadogo, President of the Burkinabe Football Federation, was appointed 2nd Vice President. This election forms the new leadership for the regional body, which includes seven member nations: Nigeria, Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Gusau, who has been leading the NFF since September 2022, brings substantial experience to his new role. He has previously served on the Organizing Committee for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and held key security positions within both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF). His appointment is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s role in regional football and promote greater collaboration among the member countries to foster the sport’s development in West Africa.
