In addition, the state government disclosed that out of 450 individuals classified as miscreants and rescued over the weekend, 79 have been absorbed into government facilities for rehabilitation, while 371 have sought assistance to relocate to their respective states.

Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, stated in a Saturday announcement that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has instructed relevant ministries to take charge of the children of squatters evicted from Dolphin Estate and Osborne, Ikoyi Bridges, for rehabilitation.

Omotoso emphasized that the statewide operation to eliminate visible security risks in Lagos persisted over the weekend following the arrest of suspects beneath the Dolphin Estate Bridge.

“The incessant influx of miscreants, beggars, and destitute onto Lagos streets has raised concerns about the security of lives and property. This is unacceptable,” said Omotoso.

Furthermore, during an inspection tour to the Dolphin Estate Under-Bridge and Ikoyi Towers, where illegal squatters were found, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab, alongside Special Adviser on Environment Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, reiterated Governor Sanwo-Olu’s directive to take custody of the children of evicted squatters for rehabilitation.

Wahab stated that Governor Sanwo-Olu has approved the temporary custody of the children until permanent accommodation arrangements can be made.
