During the ceremony held at Lagos House in Ikeja, the governor praised Ighile and the newly appointed commission members for their integrity and commitment to democratic principles. Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in their ability to uphold the credibility of the state’s electoral process.

“LASIEC serves as a cornerstone of our democratic framework, entrusted with the noble duty of organizing free, fair, and credible elections,” Sanwo-Olu said. “This task is not just administrative but a sacred responsibility that shapes the future of our communities.”

The governor called on the commission to prioritize fairness, impartiality, and transparency. “The credibility of any electoral process is its foundation for acceptance. Your actions must reflect the highest standards of integrity and accountability,” he added.

Ondo Prepares for Local Government Elections

Meanwhile, in Ondo State, preparations are underway for the local government elections scheduled for January 18, 2025. The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has begun distributing non-sensitive materials, including ballot boxes, to the 18 local government areas.

ODIEC Chairman, Joseph Aremo, announced that ad hoc staff have been fully trained to ensure a smooth electoral process. No fewer than 10 political parties, including the APC, PDP, NNPP, LP, and ZLP, are fielding candidates in the election.

Aremo reiterated the commission’s commitment to ensuring a seamless election that reflects the people’s will.
