The attack was retaliation for an airstrike on April 1, targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of seven Revolutionary Guards members, including two generals.

Despite the magnitude of the assault, Israel, with support from the United States and other allies, managed to intercept 99% of the incoming threats. The attack caused minimal damage, primarily hitting a military base in southern Israel.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz is leading the diplomatic initiative, seeking to escalate international pressure on Iran. He has reached out to 32 countries, urging them to impose sanctions on Iran’s missile project and designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.

This call for sanctions aligns with previous actions by the United States and existing EU sanctions. However, Katz did not disclose all the governments he contacted.

Israel remains steadfast in its determination to retaliate against any further aggression from Iran. Katz emphasized the urgency of halting Iran’s actions before they escalate further, emphasizing that “Iran must be stopped now – before it is too late.”
