The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has issued an apology over the delay in releasing the results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted on Friday, April 17, 2026.

According to Ireporter Online, the delay generated widespread frustration among candidates after the board failed to meet its earlier commitment to publish the second batch of results on Saturday.

In a statement released on Sunday, the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, explained that the setback was due to the unavailability of the board’s chief executive, who was engaged in official duties at the time.

He expressed regret over the situation, assuring candidates that necessary steps had been taken to ensure the results would be released later in the day. The board emphasized that the chief executive was expected to resume office and finalize the process, with results scheduled for release before the end of the day.

The examination body also extended an apology to candidates who had stayed up through the night in anticipation of the results, appreciating their patience and understanding.

The development comes shortly after the release of the first batch of UTME results for candidates who sat for the examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026. The board confirmed that a total of 632,788 results had already been made available.

Candidates were further advised to check their results via SMS by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone numbers linked to their registration.
