JAMB Fixes Date To Set 2026 Admission Cut-Off Marks

According to Ireporter Online, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled May 11, 2026, for its crucial policy meeting on admissions into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The meeting is expected to determine the minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) cut-off marks as well as other admission guidelines that will govern universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other higher institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that the high-level meeting will take place in Abuja and will bring together key stakeholders in the education sector.

According to him, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is expected to present major policy directions for the upcoming admission cycle, which will formally shape the framework for the exercise and ensure strict compliance by institutions nationwide.

The statement further indicated that participants will include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from tertiary institutions across the country, alongside representatives of regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission, National Commission for Colleges of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education.

Benjamin explained that the policy meeting will also provide a platform for stakeholders to assess challenges affecting admissions and reach consensus on procedures for the new academic session. He added that goodwill messages are expected from organisations such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, reflecting the importance of coordinated planning in the education sector.

He also revealed that the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M) will be held during the event, an initiative designed to promote transparency and ensure strict adherence to admission guidelines across institutions.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to set the tone for the 2026/2027 admission process and guide institutions in the conduct of admissions nationwide.
