Jim Iyke Sparks Outrage: “Modern Feminism Is a Crime”
Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked controversy with strong remarks on contemporary feminist movements, asserting that modern feminism has strayed far from its original purpose and now borders on extremism.
During a recent interview, the actor described the current wave of feminism as a radical departure from the genuine efforts of early activists who sought to address systemic patriarchy and promote gender equity. According to Iyke, the movement has evolved into what he termed a distorted ideology that encourages hostility and unnecessary rivalry between men and women.
“I consider it a kind of crime, an assault even,” the 48-year-old actor said, explaining that the ideology, in his view, was originally crafted as a commercial strategy by a prominent women’s publication to boost sales. He claimed the campaign was designed to appeal to female audiences by promoting a rebellious narrative challenging traditional gender roles.
Iyke alleged that this marketing tactic gained traction and eventually laid the foundation for a belief system that encourages women to disregard men entirely. “They embraced the notion that ‘we don’t need men’ or that ‘anything a man can do, a woman can do better,’ and this mindset soon became mainstream,” he stated.
The actor criticized what he called the movement’s inherent double standards, suggesting it fosters an inconsistent and divisive approach to gender relations. He expressed concern that modern feminism, rather than promoting unity, has turned into a lifestyle choice that thrives on confrontation and alienation.
“What troubles me is the falsehood and two-faced nature of it all,” he said. “There’s a natural balance between men and women, and true harmony comes when both understand and respect their distinct roles. That’s the part many people seem to miss.”
Jim Iyke’s remarks have stirred conversation on social media and within the entertainment community, drawing both support and backlash as debates over gender roles and cultural shifts continue to dominate public discourse.
