Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, in conjunction with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully rescued seven victims who were abducted along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari Road in Taraba State on August 3, 2025.

The rescue operation, conducted over two days—August 5 and 6—targeted known criminal enclaves in the region. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, four of the victims were recovered unharmed from Chinkai Forest during the initial phase of the operation. The remaining three victims, all women, were rescued the following day from the Owedi community in Wukari Local Government Area.

Military sources confirmed that the kidnappers fled upon encountering superior firepower from the troops, abandoning their captives in the process.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, praised the soldiers for their courage and operational effectiveness. He described the mission as a strategic victory in the ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and curb kidnapping across Taraba State.
