JUST IN: Macron Gives Troubling Update On French Ambassador In Niger
French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that the French ambassador to Niger, along with other diplomats, is currently confined within the French embassy, essentially being held hostage.
Macron stated that food supplies have been obstructed, forcing them to rely on military rations.
Ambassador Sylvain Itte is unable to leave the embassy and is being denied regular sustenance.

In July, the military junta that seized control of Niger ordered Itte to leave the country and later revoked his visa.
However, the diplomat has remained in place, with French authorities refusing to recognize the junta’s authority. Macron emphasized that he will coordinate with ousted Niger President Mohamed Bazoum, as he considers him the legitimate authority.
Despite the situation, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna assured that Ambassador Itte continues to work and remains in contact with a small team. His return ultimately hinges on Macron’s decision.
