Addressing the gathering, the Acting General Secretary of the union, Comrade Kayode Agbeyanju, explained, “Since the position of the zonal chairman cannot be left vacant, there was a need to elect an acting chairman.” He further clarified that “Akinsanya will serve as the acting chairman of the union until the election, which is scheduled to take place in the next two weeks.”

Agbeyanju also highlighted the appreciation of the conference towards the governments of Ekiti and Lagos states for their support in enabling the union to function effectively in their respective states. He acknowledged the steadfastness of the Ekiti state council in upholding their trust in the union despite pressure to adopt the park management system.

The conference went on to affirm the appointment of Alh. Musliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) as the acting zonal chairman in the absence of the zonal chairman, Chief Olalekan Folorunsho. It was also decided that both Ekiti and Lagos State did not meet the mandatory constitutional requirements to conduct the delegate election, leading to a postponement to a new date of October 19, 2023, for the completion of the process.

Akinsanya’s appointment came about due to the absence of the Zonal Chairman, Chief Olalekan Folorunsho, at the Zonal Quadrennial Delegate Conference.

He pledged to enhance the vibrancy of the union through his unwavering dedication to its progress and promised to work towards its unity for continued advancement.

Olayioye Adesina, the Zonal Secretary of the union, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders present for their contributions in making the activities a successful reality.
