More Trouble For Tinubu As National Assembly Told To Probe President Over Chicago State University Certificate Controversy

The United Global Resolve for Peace (UGRFP) has urged the National Assembly to conduct an inquiry into the educational credentials of President Bola Tinubu, specifically the validity and authenticity of his qualifications obtained from the Chicago State University. This call emphasizes that such an investigation would not only uphold justice but also demonstrate a commitment to the principles of the rule of law and transparency.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chairman of UGRFP, Shalom Olaseni, stressed that neglecting this matter could potentially tarnish the country’s reputation both within the region and on a global scale. Allowing the controversy to persist, according to Olaseni, carries significant implications.

“The UGRFP further implores the National Assembly, as the embodiment of Nigeria’s legislative authority, to approach this matter with the utmost seriousness. A thorough, impartial, and expeditious investigation is not only a matter of justice but a demonstration of our commitment to the rule of law and transparency,” Olaseni noted.

The group also cautioned against inflammatory and politically motivated maneuvers by certain individuals aiming to use this issue to settle political scores against the President. They emphasized that Nigeria’s reputation, both domestically and internationally, relies on the collective ability of citizens to address the allegations surrounding President Tinubu’s certificate with unwavering transparency and integrity.

Furthermore, they called upon the President to directly address Nigerians and present indisputable evidence to confirm the authenticity of his educational qualification acquired from the CSU. They stressed that this step is crucial for maintaining trust and confidence in the nation’s leadership.

The group’s spokesperson also observed that some responses to the controversy surrounding the alleged forged school certificate from the Chicago State University were concerning. These reactions held the potential to trivialize the matter through humor, banter, and vindictiveness. Therefore, it is imperative to protect the reputation and credibility of Nigeria.

Olaseni added, “We note with growing concerns how allegations of President Tinubu presenting a forged school certificate from Chicago State University to the Independent National Electoral Commission has ignited a whirlwind of media attention, both locally and on the international stage. UGRFP recognizes that such allegations are grave and, if left unaddressed, have the potential to cast a long shadow over Nigeria’s image, both regionally and globally.

“The President, as a custodian of our national leadership, owes it to the Nigerian people to provide irrefutable evidence that validates the authenticity of his claimed educational qualifications. Transparency is not a mere expectation; it is an imperative for the sustenance of trust and confidence in our leadership.

“By failing to address allegations of this magnitude, President Tinubu risks sending a message that integrity and accountability can be compromised with impunity, thereby undermining the very foundation of Nigeria’s democracy.”
