Just In: Tinubu Holds First Strategic Meeting With New Military Commanders

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday convened a high-level meeting with the recently appointed service chiefs at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting, which marks their first official engagement with the Commander-in-Chief since their appointment last Friday, underscores the administration’s ongoing efforts to fortify Nigeria’s national security structure.

According to Ireporter Online, the agenda of the meeting has not yet been made public at the time of filing this report. However, it is believed to be part of the President’s broader strategy to reposition the Armed Forces for greater efficiency and professionalism.

President Tinubu had announced sweeping changes in the military hierarchy last week, appointing General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

In a message shared via his official handle, the President expressed appreciation to the outgoing service chiefs, led by General Christopher Musa, for their dedication and service to the nation. He urged the new military heads to uphold the highest standards of discipline, vigilance, and unity in the discharge of their duties.

President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security apparatus, emphasizing that the appointments were made to reinforce professionalism and ensure the Armed Forces continue to serve the nation with honour and integrity.
