At approximately 4:15 a.m., a joint tactical team led by the Nigeria Police launched a targeted ambush on a suspected bandit route in Dutsen Wori village, located in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State. The engagement led to the elimination of five suspected armed bandits and the seizure of seven motorcycles believed to be used for criminal activities.
Later that morning, around 7:00 a.m., a separate intelligence-led operation was conducted in the villages of Unguwar Adam and Unguwar Judo in Danmusa LGA. The operation resulted in a fierce gun battle, during which the bandits’ hideout was successfully dismantled. Security forces also apprehended three suspected informants alleged to have been providing logistical and intelligence support to the criminals. Two additional motorcycles and two bicycles were recovered from the scene.
In a related development, police operatives in Kebbi State, working alongside local vigilante groups, successfully rescued Augustine Madubiya, a 23-year-old Economics student from the Federal University Birnin Kebbi. Madubiya had been abducted on April 8, 2025, in Unguwar Jeji, Kalgo LGA. The rescue took place in the Dakingari forest, where the kidnappers abandoned their captive and fled upon sighting the approaching security team.
The rescued student was found unharmed and is currently receiving medical care at a local health facility prior to being reunited with his family.
“These coordinated efforts underscore the effectiveness of joint security operations and community collaboration in tackling armed banditry and violent crime,” the statement emphasized.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun lauded the bravery and commitment of the security personnel involved, reiterating the Nigeria Police Force’s continued dedication to safeguarding lives and property. Investigations are ongoing to arrest fleeing suspects and dismantle the broader criminal network behind the attacks.
