Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the event and reported that a total of 14 people have been rescued from the debris. The survivors were quickly taken to Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment.

Hundeyin added, “Police operatives were deployed to the site of the collapse at Oriwu Street, Lekki Phase 1, at approximately 4:00 PM today. As of now, 14 people have been rescued and are being treated for their injuries. The police team remains on-site to provide security as the rescue operation continues.”
