Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not officially recognize black market rates, as it encourages individuals to conduct foreign exchange transactions through approved banking institutions. The CBN exchange rate for today ranges between ₦1497 (lowest) and ₦1505 (highest).
In another development, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has suffered a massive 80% reduction in natural gas supply due to acts of vandalism at its Bonny Island facility. The disruption has severely affected LNG exports, with only two out of six processing units currently operational. Three key gas pipelines have been rendered non-functional due to continuous sabotage, according to NLNG CEO Philip Mshelbila.
Reports suggest that the reduction in Nigeria’s LNG output could impact global supply, particularly in Asia and Europe, leading to potential price hikes in the international market.
